hi,
tried through chat to get an answer, no joy, told to call 202, its not an 'urgent' issue.
maybe this forum can advise.
i only have a 6mbs broadband which at best gives me 3mbs. working remotely I am using voice and video constantly. I had tethered to my phone(good 4g) but that proved uneconomic.
so i purchased an o2 4g dongle with 50gb monthly.
installed day 1 - brilliant 28mbs download using about 1.5gb a day.
day 3 - same speed
day 7 - tested again, now its 15mbs kept testing over the next 7 days and it never goes above 15mbs ever..
the dongle is USB, running on a Del XPS laptop Win10, all latest OS version with updates.
I think my number is being throttled, can anyone confirm if thats a policy o2 carryout as it certainly feels like it as it only happended after a week when my usage pattern was clear.
My phone continues to be able to run at 25mbs+ constantly connected to the same O2 cell tower
your advice is appeciated.
thanks
andy

Check the wifi advanced settings on the PC to make sure you untick the metered connection option.

The network traffic management will determine what speed to deliver to each device connected to it.
15mbps is more than adequate for the vast majority of applications.

hi, thanks for that. I think you just confirmed what i thought, they do limit throughput. no doubt its buried in the contrct details. cheers

There is some sketchy info on the website (for example http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New%2CKb=Companion%2Cquestion%3Dref%28User%29%3As... ) but yes, most likely eluded to in the T&C's that no one ever reads
