text messages not delivered

i am on text and web tariff but only some text messages to o2 mobiles and none to other uk mobiles are getting through even though phone says its sent. also no delivery reports coming through even though requested in message settings. i have a samsung wave gt-s8500 if that helps. please help as its causing arguments between me and my mate

o2 do not support delivery reports from settings you have to start the sms with the following 3 characters *0#

What phone are you sending to have they blocked your number for sms?

Have you checked you have te correct message center number etc?

Where in the Uk are you? Im in Northern Ireland and I haven't had a single message since the 23rd December 😞 I dont know if i am being ignored or fault with the 02 system.  I talked to 02 and they can't do anything about it.  A Mast was down in my area but its working again 😞 I am thinking of changing my network as this has happened before

thanks for that i did as you suggested and sent a text starting with those characters to my mate on 3 Mobile and i got a delivery report straight away.

If you get a delivery report does that mean the other person has definitely got the txt?

Indeed it is a confirmation that the recipient has recieved the SMS however it cannot tell you if they've read it.

Try going into your netwok settings, then 'operator selection' if it's on automatic put it on manual. It will generate a network list, tap in to one of the non-o2 carriers (Vodafone, orange etc) and leave it about 10 secs. Go back to the network list and tap into o2 again. This tends to refresh network your connection after signal issues and in particular with receiving text messages.

now all messages are being delivered no problem just gotta remember the prefix to the message

You may be able to make a template with the prefix already added, depending on your phone model.
