You can cancel if you are within the 14 days ...if outside of that then no you can't. O2 dont do 12 month contracts unless you go for sim only deals
If you are on refresh you can pay off the handset early though....

Yup. Or make sure you buy SIM Free telephones and get a SIM only contract.

@Anonymous As stated, if you are within the 14 days cooling off period, you can cancel your contract. Just be aware that if you've used any of the allowances from your tariff, you will be charged pro rata for the use. If you set up a direct debit when you started the contract, leave it in place until your bill shows as zero, and you have confirmation that your contract has been cancelled.
