When may I change my tarif?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I just discovered that my wife - who's phone, text allowance, call allowance and everything else is identical to my own - pays £26.83 when I am paying £37.00

My contact expires in September but I am told by the website that I'm unable to change tariff

It's been quite some time since O2 prevented people from changing tariff mid contract although in fairness O2 were one of the last networks to make this change. Of course in this day and age of O2 promoting the airtime as being totally separate from the handset, there is little reason (beyond profit) why O2 should prevent people from doing so if they are on O2 refresh

If you aren't on O2 refresh, it is highly likely that the disparities in your price plan when compared to your wife are down to the handsets you have as the cost of the handset will be factored into the price plan

That is correct.
Deals may be announced at any time and the price is what you pay for the duration (subject ti inflation fluctuations).
You can't switch to a differently priced tariff unless you pay off your current one and start again.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Don't you mean allowed Dave and not prevented, where people could move down a level after half way through a contract?

I'm sure that was allowed when I started with O2.
