Warning - Data Update Charges

Anonymous
Not applicable
I'm no phone geek so I only use my phone for calls, messaging, camera & little else. Unfortunately unknown to me my phone was set up to allow the apps on the phone to be updated daily. (The Use Packet Data in network settings was ticked). This went unnoticed by me as it made very little to my bill until September and October when it cost me £25 per month. Hope this helps some people.

Did you get that warning initially when you first inserted the simcard? I certainly didn't get it when setting up up my S3.

That kind of warning should be included as a default in every smartphone. Good on Sony for doing that.

Yes I know but wondered whether he got the warning when he first set the phone up too.

Also wondering whether it's just a Sony thing as I didn't get the warning on initial set up and don't get it when disabling and re-enabling mobile data.

No I don't see it either! slight_frown

It would save a lot of hassle if this notice came up on all phones, at least on first start up.

I have a Motorola and I don't get it either, which also makes me think it's a Sony thing.

It would be even better if Android, Apple, and Windows incorporated it into their respective OS's.

I've seen it on my Sony and on the Huawei but only when you toggle mobile data off and back on again.....

It certainly would be better at initial start up but at least it's a start.....

Perhaps they will all implement it now. I get a warning message when turning mobile data off that I wn't be able to access web based services but nothing when toggling back on.
