@AnonymousYou would be better either using a local sim...Or making sure you have WiFi for data connection. You can also use TuGo over Wifi for calls and texts http://www.o2.co.uk/apps/tu-go
Also make sure voicemail is turned off before you travel

If you go for the local sim card, and I strongly suggest you do, make sure your phone is unlocked before you go. You have seen the rates for monthly contract but if you are P&G then the rates vary slightly.
One anomaly that hasn't changed is that it is cheaper to send a picture message with included text (25p) rather than a standard text (49p)
