Upgrade problems with verification code

I have been trying to upgrade for 3 days but when I go to checkout I am asked to input a code that is sent to me, but it never arrives, after 2 attempts it locks me out for 24 hours, I have done live chat and phoned 202, but neither can issue me a code and don't know who I can speak to to get a code, receiving texts from elsewhere ok. Went to vodaphone and they offered me the same deal with a samsung tab as a gift, all sorted in 5 minutes. Still have a few days left on existing contract and would like to stay with O2 but running out of patience.

Take some form of ID with you if you call into a store. You need to prove who you are so if the text verification system isn't working (for whatever reason) you'll need passport, driving license etc to show them.
