Sorry for the delay getting back to you on the forum. Glad you got it all sorted in the end.
If you had gone down the route of moving your number across to the new contract you took out in your own name, the old contract would have cancelled/disconnected automatically when the number became active on your new contract, but we normally don't recommend moving the number across until you have received delivery of the new phone otherwise you would not have an active sim with your old number on until it arrives in the box with your new phone.
