Upgrade early/buy out contract

Anonymous
Not applicable
My contract runs out in February, but I've bee told I can pay £120 to upgrade early to the iphone 5s on Friday.

However, my contract has always been in my mums name so whenever I phone up they have to speak to her. I want to change this to my name.

So.. Can I get my mum to phone up Thursday night and buyout the contract for £120, then phone up Friday morning and get the 5s on a new contract under my name?

And can I get a puc code on Thursday night so I can keep my number?

I would keep this simple and do it in two stages so it doesn't end in a bit of a muddle.

Take the upgrade in your mum's name and you won't need to worry about PACs or anything else, then after the new contract is in place contact O2 again and apply to have the contract transferred to your name,

I had no idea I could transfer the name!?

Problem is my iphone I have now is broken so I'm desperate for the new 5s ASAP. My mum is at work on Friday so they won't let me upgrade without speaking to her.

Can I change the name on the contract then upgrade on Friday?? How do I change the name?

It's something we have only seen recently, a few people have reported doing this successfully, you will need to ring O2 with your mum there and provided you pass the credit check they should be able to do it for you.

I hope all goes well with this for you.

However be aware that the iPhone 5s is in very limited short supply.

I'll phone tonight and see if I can change the name. That way I can try and order my 5s bang on at 8am.

Anyone had luck changing the contract name?

Account holders have done this ok in the past. As long as the original account holder is there with you and authorises the change and you pass a credit check (I believe) you should be fine.

As said Customer Services on 202 will look after you and clarify the fine detail.

Edit : I know you have been told this info in so many other words in the above posts, but i just wanted to re assure you it can be done.
