Unlock codes

Anonymous
Not applicable

I had a contract with O2 for over 20 years and the last phone was an Experia X10. I changed to another provider but I now want to unlock my X10.

I am told that O2 have to supply this unlock code FOC.

Anyone anyideas how to get it as the follow through options of having an active contract no longer apply. My old number (which was ported to my new provider) was/is xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks to anyone who can help.

John Clery

How to unlock here @Anonymous

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-card/ba-p/1014131

But after this length of time you may have to use the PAYG route unless you know someone with an O2 contract?

There are no rules that state it HAS to be free though.

PS. Please edit your phone number as the forum is public.

They only unlock it free if the device plan is paid off or end of contract

Contract customers can unlock for free at anytime (exceptions around some new phones as stated on the link) but this phone will have dropped off the system after a length of time so will need to be re registered either with a contract sim or a PAYG one.
If using a contract sim, it will be free but if PAYG it will cost £15.00

If you can still access my o2 then it will be free. If not then the unlock form will be of use but you would have to go down the PAYG route unless you have a friend on contract with O2 who can then get it unlocked free for you.

MyO2 won't exist as the number was ported off the network, hence my original reply.

@Anonymous Please follow the link provided by @MI5 in his first reply.

As a matter of interest, have you tried a different network sim in your phone? It may already be unlocked.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I wasn't sure of the timescale of it after porting. From what you are saying it's almost instant then.

As soon as the number ports, the account is dead as far as MyO2 is concerned, it just shows as a "disconnected" account.

O2 might still recognise the association with phone and number though, but only CS can see that.

Thanks for that. I've only ever ported PAYG and had no reason or need to check.
