Text Messages Abroad

Hi

I used to have a contract SIM and I had no issues using it either to phone abroad or to phone/text whenI was there. Now I have a £10 big bundle PAYG SIM and I am no longer able to send text messages to my American friends, even though I can receive them. What's happened? Am I on the wrong tariff?

You need credit on your phone. The bundle allowances are for uk use only and do not cover international calls and texts.

Thanks. It's really not clear. I kept getting a message saying I had NIL balance but ignored it because I had just paid £10 for the big bundle!

Yes that is correct. The top up is taken immediately in exchange for the allowances so to make any calls not covered in the allowances an additional top up is required.
