I’m trying to get into the online chat to see if my tariff includes tethering or if there is an extra cost. How else would I find out

Thanks for this, just seems that when u try and use the online chat to ask, you just get passed onto different webpages.
I know that on some networks you get charged to tether

Just keep an eye on the amount of data used when you are tethering - it can disappear at an alarming rate if you're using it for video streaming, or updating your PC, for instance.
The O2 app will give you an idea of usage
Be careful who you give the login to for this reason.
