I’ve just purchased a tablet but it has the same number as my phone will my phone still work.

No it wont work for both. Your phone sim needs to stay in your phone. You need a different sim and number for your tablet. Pop instore or contact O2 to send one out Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

Sounds like you have upgraded to a tablet which switches you to a data only tariff. You phone sim is no longer connected so to continue to use your phone, you need to purchase a new sim only contract.

Unfortuntely, this will come with a new number for your phone.
