I am abroad, not using my phone to make calls or answering them when I am called. I have numerous £2.00 charges added to my latest bill which when I look at the detail are listed as being calls to my own number with duration of only a few seconds. Has anyone else had this problem - I am at a loss as to what to do about it as there is no way I can contact O2 as I am 13 hours adrift timewise.

Most likely either calls to you being picked up by the voicemail service. Person rings, call goes to you but as soon as voicemal kicks in they put the phone down.
Biggest problem at the moment is these silent calls from spammers that don't trigger your phone to ring but still get recorded as a call. I get them at home. Phone doesn't ring but my messaging service says I have a missed call.
Also any use of the phone will trigger the charge, app handshakes will do it
