Hi last year found a really good deal for my o2 Sim only through a comparison site (cant remember which one)

the 12 months is up on the 08 Feb

will it automatically renew or will i get the option to find a better deal at one of the comparison sites for o2 ?

Last year managed to get 40gb (doubled to 80gb plus EU roaming) for only £10 a month so looking for something similar. Just wondering if I will get notified when the renewal is coming up.

I always used to have o2 handsets with my data plan but since paying off my phone last year I just need Sim only from o2.

Any help appreciated thanks D.

You should be able to apply in your last month, @Dino1968 - your MyO2 will tell you when any early charge drops to zero (or text INFO to 85075), just to be sure. This note for the 2024 price increase in March indicates what the cutoff date is likely to be, +/- 14days to avoid the March 2025 increase:   https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly/RPI-2024/m-p/1694840/highlight/true#M271109

Good luck!

@Dino1968 Take a look at Uswitch closer to your renewal date:
https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/o2/
Choose the deal you want.
This will automatically redirect you to the O2 website.
Just follow the prompts and choose the UPGRADE option.
Complete the deal and nothing on your account changes except the tariff at the new cheaper cost.
Payment date is the same and your next bill will be at a cheaper rate and will be made up of the pro rata cost of your old tariff and your new tariff.
The change should show in My O2 within 24 hours.
Volt benefits will still apply as will possibly a 3 month extra such as Disney+.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Follow advice given by @Bambino above, @Dino1968.

I upgraded to a 12month SIMO getting 40GB (Volt doubled to 80GB) with unlimited calls, texts and the usual EU "free" 25GB/month for up to 63days (soon to become the norm for roaming anywhere with an O2 Roaming Partner, I suspect, with the relevant Travel Inclusive or Travel Inclusive Ultimate bolt-on) for £8/month.  That will rise to £9.80 in March/April with the so-called RPI price increase that happens every year, and my hope is that it should be possible to see what's on offer in November and drop the price back down again with a new SIMO Affiliate deal from the likes of Uswitch.  Good luck!

Great thanks for the info will check it in the new year @pgn they are some good deals on pay monthly sims through uswitch I saw last night. But then I might be tempted to upgrade my s23ultra to the up n coming s25 ... which means paying a lot more for my data plan. Will see what the new samsung line up is like in January /early Feb

cheers

You are welcome, @Dino1968 - and for a new handset, look at the deals on offer from the handset manufacturer as well, sometimes reduced and available on zero-interest payment terms of varying durations. Good luck!

Yes @pgn something I will be looking at in the New Year - its a shame O2 really push up the prices on the airtime when you get a device plan. But I suppose that is true of all mobile companies in the UK. So splitting purchase of phone from airtime plan seems the better choice. But o2s airtime cant be beaten - especially with the inclusive roaming which I used a lot during the past 14 months with never being restricted or costing me more than my monthly payment. Connection speeds were / are always good in the EU regions I was visiting.
