Setting call forward to another mobile while in USA

Anonymous
Not applicable

Planning on taking advantage of the THREE 'Feel at home' tarrif and sim while I'm in USA as O2 roaming costs in USA are ludicrous.

Rather than carry two phones (one with my o2 sim for people trying to contact me urgently and other with the THREE sim) will I be able to set up call fwd to the THREE number from my O2 number while I'm stateside or does it need to be done before I leave?

I know I'll be charged for the call divert part of the call.

Did a search of the communities but can't see a specific answer to this.

Cheers

It needs to be done in UK but if you install Tugo on your phone and set it to work over mobile data, there's no need to forward any calls....
Just use the Tugo app and it will work over the Three mobile data.

I am not an expert on this but would presume it needs to be set up before you leave the UK? Perhaps someone more expert could confirm this?

Thanks. I do have the tu go app but it relies on wifi or a mobile data connection which I want to avoid so the Three data allowance, as generous as it is, doesn't get used up.

You get 25Gb so that would take some using up....

Is the mobile data overhead for tugo pretty low then? I do use it in areas with poor mobile coverage but obviously that means connection over wifi.

So never really looked at how much data is uses.

It doesn't use much at all - about 50mb an hour.

Hmmm, 50mb over 24 hours works out at 1.2Gb though if on mobile data 24/7.

Over the period I'm in USA (over 3 weeks) that would chew up my entire allowance without even using other apps.

Granted there will be times I can hook up to wifi - but not that often.

Thinking now it might be easier and more cost effective to just move contract to THREE the month before I fly out as I'm out of contract anyway.

No, that's whilst in use, ie on a call.....
It's a few kbs in standby.
Since 23rd April my Tugo has use 3.5mb - mainly texts granted but it won't use up 25Gb in a year....
