I want to know if a technique I've used successfully to control incoming roaming charges on Vodafone will work on O2.
On Vodafone, before leaving the UK, I would:
Will the same thing work on O2, or would the voicemail call be routed via India anyway? (£17 to receive and retrieve a 4-minute voicemail routed via India... no thanks!)
Your thoughts appreciated.

Yes you can set all calls to divert straight to 901 voice mail before you leave the uk and it will not do a roaming call and back to voice mail http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...
Yes you can change greating http://www.o2.co.uk/support/generalhelp/howdoi/voicemail901/howtogetstarted
But cannot remember if you can get an sms as being an iphone user have visual voice mail.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know. Not an iPhone user so should be OK to set the standard SMS notification.
Actually, I wonder whether the standard voicemail "spool" notification would work, I believe it arrives by specially-formed SMS...
Either way I should be OK.
