Refund of PAYG balance

Because I use my phone mostly for web and texts, not phone calls, I have built up a considerable balance on my PAYG account.  I'm now in a position where I'd like to change tmy phone and to pay monthly, but dont want to lose the money I have paid.  Realise i could just not top-up for the next few months, but would like new phone sooner.  Does anyone know if I can get a refund from 02, or transfer it to my new contract?

Yes, o2 will transfer any credit to your pay monthly contract when you transfer your number, but you must keep your same number.
