Paid of debt, now can't get a clear answer out of o2

I recently missed a few payments this summer due to unemployment and my outstanding debt was sent to buchanan clark & wells. I'm now employed and today I paid off the debt but I've ran into some problems with o2.

1. I contacted o2 twice on live chat and both advisors told me that once I had paid off my outstanding debt, I could take out a new phone contract and get a new phone.

2. I phoned o2 today once I had paid off the debt and they said that I won't be able to take out a new contract with them.

Now, clark & wells told me they are going to contact o2 to say that I've paid the debt off and o2 have told me that they've not recieved this confirmation yet.

Has anybody else went through something similar? Do you think I'll be able to take out a contract once they've recieved confirmation?

Or am I totally screwed and not able to take out a contract phone ever again?

cheers

As this debt was for more than one missed payment don't be too surprised if the credit referral team decline the application for a new contract.

Hahaha maybe I should program some artificial intelligence for o2's system so that it can have some sympathy for me

If you've tried online with O2 then you could try an O2 shop and if a refresh tariff is not a deal breaker then you could try car phone warehouse who offer 2year deals. But remember every time you try it leaves a search on your credit file.

Or try for a sim only contract and approximately 6
Months after running it ok they may let you upgrade to a full blown contract.

@jonie I suppose so, however I've never missed a payment before now. I wish they would respect me a bit more considering the 100's of pounds i've gave them

@Anonymous Is that a bad thing leaving a search on your credit file? But yeah, I think a sim only contract may be my only choice.

Business decision have sadly only ever considered risk assessment and I do sympathise. You've dug yourself out of a hole and paid the debt and you are to be commended for that. Let's hope O2 show some compassion and some heart. Fingers crossed for you slight_smile
