O2 chat

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi, has anyone here had any problems with O2 chat not understanding what you want?
Well i have. I went online and asked if was possible to block a phone from working. Sounds straight forward, or so i thought. I posted a very expensive phone back to the shop for a refund, without a SIM i may add, and its been 'lost' in the post for over a month now. Yes yes I know if it was that expensive why didn't I get a courier, well i thought better of the human race.
Anyway i was told by the 'guru' i was talking to that this wasn't a problem, great i thought. He asked my my name three times then my phone number four times then my EMEI number, I was getting very confused as I had already told him that I DO NOT want my SIM blocked as i am still using it every day and is important i need it. He says yes ok. I thought great getting somewhere, he then asks me for my password, now i know my password and it so happens that the ones i gave they were all wrong. Time had gone and i needed to go so was hoping that t
He had done it.
When I had time again i went back online to see if this was done, well it wasn't sooooo to cut an even longer story short i went back on and within 3 hours my SIM was blocked. I was fuming so went back online and was told 24hrs. Well 24hrs has passed so went back on and was told it will be unblocked as a priority between 4-6 hrs its now 10 and im still waiting??????
Anyone shed any light please slight_smile
Thanks

How can a phone be blocked without a sim in it?

IMEI is placed on the blacklist. The next time a SIM is inserted and it tries to register the IMEI will be triggered and the phone blocked.

Thanks for clearing that up, I guessed it might work like that but wasn't sure.

So it should be possible to choose to block only the IMEI or the sim separately?

I didn't realise the IMEI was associated with the mobile number. I thought it only pertained to the phone. The fact that webchat lost it in translation doesn't really come as any great surprise. wink

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I'm puzzled why a phone being returned for a refund needs to blocked at all, surely there's nothing private on it?

I guess the OP thinks it has got into the wrong hands after being lost between the Post Office and O2.

And they may not have used Recorded Delivery.

My guess is that O2 have it and it isn't showing on their systems yet.

It'll be a huge relief to the OP if it does.

The IMEI and mobile number are linked by O2. If you look under "Mt Phone" in "My O2" it will give you the IMEI of the phone associated with your account along with the PUK incase you accidentally lock the SIM out.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
