The Wi-fi router can’t interfear with your signal as they work on a completely different frequency.
wifi routers work on 2.4 and 5 GHz as mobiles work on a MHz frequency,
who was was your previous provider and did you have a o2 boost box connected?
i have BT infinity as I have never had a problem with the Home hub 4, Home Hub 5 and now the Smart Hub which is amazing to be honest

@BethdickinsonI have BT wifi and find it excellent in this house. It currently runs 3 mobiles, 2 PC's. 2 tablets, a wifi box and an XBox one. Rarely drops signal. There is no doubt it works better in some areas than others but here in Warwickshire it's the best for us.
