I am an existing 02 customer (Pay as you go) but I changed to a Pay Monthly plan yesterday. After I ordered my new Pay Monthly sim, I completed a transfer number form so I can keep my number. Today afternoon I lost all my O2 services (no network) and I have not received my new SIM yet. Why did I lose connection? Is there anything else I can do to get the connection back or should I just wait for my new sim?

You'll need to wait for your new sim which has been programmed with your number.

It should arrive on Monday as they are posted first class.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thank you,

Will I lose all the contacts I have stored on my current (old) sim?

If any contacts are stored on your sim you should transfer them to your phone or lose them.

Thanks,

But the number I am transferring to is my old number (the number that I want to keep). I am transferring from my new number (The new sim that I have ordered which does not have any contacts) to my current (old number). Do I still need to transfer them?

Yes, you need the new sim as contract and PAYG sim cards are different.
