Check your postcode @ http://status.o2.co.uk/
What fault finding have you done? Reboot, reset, clean sim etc? Anyone else on O2 you know having problems?

I lost voice (but not data) service on Friday afternoon, it suddenly returned at 13:10 on Sunday with me changing nothing. I drove over 50 miles so I must have moved between multiple cells.
I had a live chat with O2 this morning and they asked me my postcode. They told me that the 3G signal was down in my area, but 2G was working perfectly. I was told that I would have to change from Automatic to Manual. I asked what setting and they said:
Network Operators -> Search Networks -> O2 - UK.
When I said I was surprised that 3G was down in more than a 50 mile radius, I was told "it happens sometimes".
I was not very happy with this advice.
Your opinions and thoughts please.

They are reading from a prepared script, try turning 3G on & off, either restore the phone, try the sim in a different phone

Sounds like the phone is barred due to being lost or stolen.

Sometimes when my iphone has done that I've switched it right off and then rebooted it and it finds the network again.
However, I am finding since I got my new contract and iphone 5 in Sept. I have a much worse signal than ever before. No idea what's changed regarding the network
