Help!!

i upgraded through a 3rd party who work with & are affiliated with o2. Was told I couldn’t upgrade as such as issues with transferring number so to take out a new contract & phone 202 to migrate my number to my new contract & cancel the existing one.
5 phone calls to 202 & a week later this still hasn’t happened. It’s such a simple thing & I keep getting fobbed off from the advisors that it will happen in 24 hours. Each will follow up & make it a priority & of course nothings happened!

it’s an absolute joke.
I will be making a formal complaint but in the meantime does anyone have any wise words as I’d really just like it sorted!!

This is much more helpful than o2 customer services so thank you!

perhaps me being a bit thick here though but as part of my ‘upgrade’ I obviously got a new phone with a new o2 contract…would I put the PAYG sim that you are saying to get on a different network in the new phone & then cancel the new o2 ‘contract’ but surely then I’d need to return the phone as it was supposed to be part of an upgrade?!

No, you keep your new phone and contract but your number gets transferred from the old contract to the new one and your OLD contract is cancelled automatically.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Yes that makes sense 🙈
the PAYG sim goes in the old phone for 30 days then request a pac code again to port back to o2 new phone & contract? It doesn’t matter which PAYG network I use?
seems such a long roundabout way to do it but if it works then I guess that’s what matters!
I very rarely upgrade for this reason- it’s just never simple for me!

Any network other than O2 will do.

giffgaff runs on O2 so you'll get the same signal level.
