In EU or not? Does O2 know?

I was in Turkey recently and received a text from O2 saying 'Using the web outside Europe etc. Later, I received another saying 'welcome to Greece etc...you are on the £1.99 per day price plan'. I assumed that I was using a Greek network so turned on roaming and used the internet, but my bill arrived today and I have been charged for non-EU data usage. Spoke to live chat and their only explanation is that I may have been travelling on a Greek registered coach???? Why would this matter? My partner, who is onanother network, also received the 'Welcome to Greece' text but this time we were at the hotel and not travelling.

If O2 send customers a text telling them they are on a certain tariff then they should stick to it, not bill them the non-EU rate.

This will always be a problem when on the move, as the phone can switch networks just because you are close to a border.

from personal experience when you are near a border / another country's network switch the handset to manual network selection and log in to the eu one.

I had a holiday in turkey but could pick up the greek network and saved a fortune on the works phone.

i was on automatic selection flip flopping between the 2 networks.
