IPhone 5 High Data Usage

Anonymous

Over the past couple of months I have noticed that my data is being used up really fast. as a part time video analyst I have to watch short youtube videos which I do on my lunch break a my other job, I have done for the past year and never reached my usage limit. I have been checking the size of the videos when I get home and it shows that watching the video on my phone it downloads more than double the size of what the video actually is. Can anybody let me know why that is? or if anyone else is having the same issue? because it shows now I have nearly used my 2GB limit in 10 days which is not correct according to the actual size of the videos im watching, the videos that I have watched only total 725mb. I just dont understand.

Hi,

I use the iPhone 5 and can honestly say I've not had this issue.

I watch quiet a lot of unboxing, review and tutorial videos along with IMBD clips and only get close to my 1gb payg data bundle.

You could phone 02 on 202 to ensure your account is set up correct and that your using the correct APN settings.

Another avenue is to book yourself in with an Apple genius bar so they can run a diagnostic.

If data is a problem, try checking how many photos, etc are being sync'd over iCloud and consider switching iCloud off completely. From what I can gather iCloud is the biggest culprit when it comes to using data.

Another option is to go to Settings>General>Diagnostics & Usage, and ensure that "Don't Send" is selected.

You could also try going to Settings>Date & Time and turn off automatic updates.

Also check your outbox in your email as it may be as simple as an email which is constantly trying to send!
