Hi,
Just received my new phone on o2 (bought online, not through o2). However I have to pay off two months remaining device payments, then I would like to transfer my old number over to the new o2 sim and activate it with my new o2 deal/contract.
I spoke to o2 but they said I need to wait until 1st May to do this due to COVID 19.
Is there any way I can do this myself, they said I could pay off the device using the o2 app but the app says call 202...

Don't see why you need to wait. Customer service can just migrate your number to the new contract which ends your old one and generates your final bill.
