High data usage

Anonymous
Not applicable
I topped up today around lunch time and I went on during my break at work to see how much data I'd used and it said 34mb. However I was only scrolling through twitter for not even 10 minutes. I normally wouldn't complain but I only have 500mb a month. It seems that it's using up a massive amount of data. There was no other apps running in the back. Is there anyway to explain this? I'm now not wanting to use my data

Twitter have recently introduced auto video play. Could that be the problem? Check the app settings.

More than likely, just turn off auto play in settings

34mb is nothing - perfectly normal.

I find that 34mb for less than 10 mins of usage is terrible especially when I only get 500mb a month. I was with another provider a few months ago and data usage was great and lucky if I used 300mb a month

It isn't controlled by o2 so makes no difference which network you are on.

Use wifi where possible to reduce your mobile data use.

Swith off mobile data when you are connected via wifi.

There are settings on both android and ios to stop you connecting via mobile data.

What handset are you using? iOS 9.0 has a function of using mobile data in conjunction with WiFi when WiFi is slow or unstable so this could be one of the issues.

34mb is nothing. Gotta all so remember that the moment you turned on the screen, it would have performed a sync to mail servers etc.
