Hi. I'm looking for feedback on using O2 in Sweden, specifically roaming on Telia. I will be in the North of Sweden for a few weeks and Telia is the only network with a signal. I have been on live chat and been assured that I can roam on Telia, however, no-one seems to know if I will be able to use 3G or 4G. One person said no and the other said I should be able to. Before I commit to an expensive contract I could really do with finding out for sure. Anyone got any experience? Thanks!

Why don't people choose a phone which comes with no lock?
Generally I buy my phones outright. Sim free and unlocked. More expensive initially but I can use it with any compatible sim
I randomly picked iPhone 7 as an example. Use the 1GB tariff as an example.
(43(monthly cost) - 12.75(SIM only tariff) ) x 24 months = 726
It looks more expensive than the one on Apple's website.
Am I correct in this calculation? What does the upfront do?

Are phones from O2 really less expensive than outside?
No, but if you cannot afford to buy outright and buy on contract, they are locked.
Can be unlocked though, so makes no sense in reality.

Many people can't afford to buy phones outright so take out a contract. Phones are then invariably locked to networks unless taken out through a third party independent.

I have just taken a contract with O2. Unlocking the phone was free and took less than 48hrs.
Correct, hence the comments about it being pointless to lock them.
