Grrr contract expired and they messed up...

Hi peeps,

After a loong phone call from Pakistan to the UK o2 I still didnt get the anwers I needed re my query. Im hoping someone here who actually has more moxy than the befuddled phone operators can give me sound information.

18 month contract started 30 June 2011

Contract expired 29 Dec 2012

02 have it as expiring 4 Feb 2013 (first problem which was not clarified).

All bills paid and up to date.

Tariff is 36 monthly, exclusive of tax

30 days notice given to cancel contract on 17th Dec 2012.

30 days takes it to 16th January 2012.

Im being billed for 5 Dec - 3 Jan (not a problem)

But..they are billing me for  4 Jan - 3 Feb

AND

They are sending a final bill which I might have to pay at the end of February after the disconnection has expired by a month. They claim they will credit me back two weeks after the final bill.

Why am I being charged for February? Why do 02 make you pay for a month you are not using on a contract that has officially expired 29th December 2012 and officially disconnected 16th January 2013.

What are the odds of me getting credited back the money?

Needless to say Im not a happy bunny with no answers. Im advised to check my bill on the 16th January 2013 to see what the bill is.

Any help and common sense muchly appreciated.

Never going on contract again, with any provider. Way too much hassle and they have too much control over what we dont. Ufff.

Thanks

Safs

You started your contract 30 June 2011 - and say its an 18 month contract.   You say you contacted them 29 December.  As with any contract you have to give 30 days notice so if you wanted it to close on 30 December you should have contacted O2 30 days before.  Standard terms of any mobile phone contract with any mobile phone company.  It's not O2's fault you didn't contact them and give your notice in time.

I presume your billing date is 4th of each month.  If so, you're being correctly billed 5 Dec - 3 Jan. As your January bill happens before the account closes (4th -16th) the billing system will normally bill you from 4th Jan - 3rd Feb.

However, on the 30th January when the final bill produces, there will normally be a refund of line rental from 16th when the account closed. So you should expect to be refunded the line rental paid from the 16th Jan - 3rd Feb.

Hope this helps.
