EU Roaming price cap

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I've just returned from holiday (Portugal), and was suprised to receive a text from O2Roaming when we landed telling me my data would cost 69p/MB, while the missus received a text saying her data would cost a maximum of x for x amount of data (think it was £1.99, can't rememeber now).

How do I get setup so receive the price cap and not a price per meg?

Bear in mind that this is still an average of £30 for a 2 week holiday.  Best idea is to find a free wi-fi enabled pub or cafe.  Also there may be an option to use BT's wifi system abroad, depending on your contract.  I've not looked into that properly yet.

I don't think you'll find BT abroad but there should be bars, hotels restaurants and shops offering free wi-fi.

You are right Perksie.  Although BT do have an international partnership, it does not include fee use as it does here on many of the newer contracts.
