Caller from O2 or a scam?

I just had a phone call on my O2 mobile from 01661 444014 claiming to be O2 and offering £50 discount plus a lower monthly bill. The man sent me two texts both of which appeared to be coming from O2. Was this genuine? I called off and requested that he communicate via email but didn’t give him my email address as O2 have my email and if it’s genuine he can follow it up. Was that caller genuinely from O2 on this number 01661 444014?

Probably best to block the number, and never give out your details or respond to any text message they say you are about to receive from O2.

Thanks pgn I’ve blocked the caller. It did sound very suspicious, it was just strange as codes were coming via text messages seemingly from O2 which is what the caller had said would verify that he was genuinely from O2 but it just didn’t sound right.
