Because you signed a contract, with either o2 or you signed up to Virgin and to get the Volt Benefits you had to take an o2 sim which is chargable as per the terms and conditions and probably told by the agent on the phone..
Other than that no will one will know.. so maybe call o2 or Virgin and ask them...
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company

There is a lot of misselling involved on virgins side with volt benefits.
In my experience o2 are the only ones who can cancel the sim only contracts and it doesn't take that long they will also refund any money charged for the sim only. It is a common problem as they are selling contracts from o2 that virgin systems cannot access.
They should action a "14 day cease" and state misspelling.
the virgin csa's do not have acces to o2 systems They are also pressured to sell o2 contracts to the point where they will miss sell.
Unfortunately o2 advisers spend all day undoing these contracts. Sorry this happened to you.
Good luck!
