I am currently on a pay monthly phone contract with a 4G  phone however I would like to switch to a sim only contract, the only thing is O2 do 5G-ready sim cards. Will the new sim card work on my phone?

It will, but only give you 4G

For 5G to work you need a 5G phone a 5G sim and be in a 5G area.
