4G not working

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello. I have an iPhone 5 and today put my new pay monthly sim into it. Calls and texts work fine but it's not connecting to 4G so I'm unable to connect to the Internet. Do I need to activate the sim or anything?

Thank you

You can't get 4g on an iPhone 5 but you should be able to get 3g.
You can text the word "active" to 2020 or manually input the settings here http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Apple-iOS-Devices-iPhone-iPad/Connecting-iPhone-to-Data-Services/m-p/54...

The frequency used for 4G by O2 is not compatable with the iphone5.

When you say it's a new contract you may be within the change of mind period so that you can cancel. Other networks have the correct frequency for 4G on the iPhone 5.

The one good thing about the frequency used by O2 is that the lower the frequency the further it can travel so in theory (ideal similar conditions and power etc) 800 Mhz signals can travel further than 1800 Mhz signals
