Hi @Anonymous Wifif should be free wherever you are (Unless your work puts a nominal cost on using it) but generally free ...Using O2 mobile data will come out of your allowances

No cost at all to connect to a wifi network unless it's a paid for service.
Wifi such as your home, work and those in McDonalds, Costa Coffee etc are all completely free to use.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

If any wifi comes at a cost you will get a log in page telling you the cost and asking payment card details.

Any wifi where you just put in a password is totally free when that password is freely given to you.

In places such as McDonald's there will be a WiFi code on your receipt giving you free access for 30 minutes or an hour.

Other WiFi hotspot such as cafes or pubs usually require you to register with an email address and a password then wifi again is free to use after registration. The next time you visit the same place you simply sign in with email and password to as a registered user.

Your home, office and places where you just use a password will be remembered by your phone or tablet and you will automatically connect unless the password has changed.

Yes there are places who change passwords on a weekly basis. With me it was usually bars and restaurants in Spain who got a bit fed up of people just buying a bottle of water and sitting there for 3 hrs using free wifi. wink

An ubiquitous example of a paid-for WiFi service is BT/EE hotspots. These are free to use whilst out and about by BT/EE customers, but those who don't pay for BT/EE products have to buy a pass :-
