Using my phone in Portugal

In Portugal with my girlfriend (who is also with o2) and whilst her Apple phone works perfectly, my Sony won't make calls, text or connect to the Internet (using WiFi)? 

Did get the usual welcome text messages and managed to connect to Google maps on the first day? 

Tried solving the problem on the o2 website and app but seem to be going around in circles!

Some things to try:
Manually search for another network
Reboot the phone
If still not working then contact O2 to remove the Roaming bar on your account.
If you message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

I’m in the same situation as you, my internet and messages only work/send when I’m connected to the hotels Wi-Fi which unfortunately doesn’t work in my room. 
Good luck sorting it and I’ll be watching your post for advice.
