Do sims turn off if not used for a while? My dads sim in his SOS phone says that it is invalid. He hasn’t used it in 3-4 months.

He should be ok really as it's usually needs a chargeable call once every 6 months before the number becomes invalid. .
Has he topped up at all? This might work Guide How to Top Up (PAYG)
If nothing happens then someone needs to call O2 on 4445 or 0344 809 222 for him.
