I have a new iPhone which I am still learning to use. It is connected to my home internet and I have not used it outside the home. Why am I being charged £1 a day for “data”, as yet I have made no phone calls or texts except 1 test call to my home phone to check that it worked! I honestly thought there was no charge for internet use if connected to a network

I never lost wi fi and never left the house but while mobile data was turned on I still got the daily charge. Does this mean that on any tariff with any supplier you must turn mobile data off even when always using wi fi

Thanks for the replies but something doesn’t make sense here. Sorry to labour the point but every time I had a practice on my new phone I was careful to note that I had wi fi connection. Certainly mobile data wasn’t switched off as I was unaware that it should be. I had been assured that wi fi would take over from mobile data. Does everyone switch mobile data off when working with a wi fi connection

Hi the problem with iphones is that when the phone is in sleep mode, wifi switches off and mobile data is used. By turning mobile data off, it won't connect and charge you.
