Can a Classic Pay as You Go SIM card be switched to £5/month Unlimited Mins ?

Will any credit be transferred ?

Will the free £10 credit offer apply ?

Yes you can switch in your MyO2.

Your credit will remain.

No free credit, sorry.

Once you switch, you can't go back though.

Yes you can switch to the £5 big bundle at any time

 

You can switch from Classic Pay As You Go to one of our other tariffs whenever you like.

Any credit you have will transfer over with your new tariff.

The free £10 offer won't apply on the £5 Big Bundle though. (See Section 6 below)

Thanks for both replies and info.

 

The Classic SIM Card is in a basic Doro 2G phone with an elderly relative some 200 miles away.

 

I can switch it using my online account. Will this be seamless and instantaneous at the phone?

 

Is there a Vodafone style spend-manager to prevent out-of-plan usage to keep within the £5/month cost.

Once you change the tariff online it will take effect from the next anniversary date. 

The changeover will be seamless.

To protect against out of bundle charges you would need to call customer service to put bars on for charge to mobile and direct to bill but this cannot be done online with O2.

Yes, included in the bundle allowances.

 

Out of Bundle charges

Once you have used your allowances or if you do not renew your bundle each month, you'll pay our Big Bundles standard rates or UK & International Bundles standard rates:

  • Calls cost 35p a minute
  • Texts cost 15p each (excluding picture or premium messages)
  • 50MB of data costs £1 a day
  • International and roaming rates apply

Included in Inclusive minutes though will be charged if exceed allowance

Calls made outside your inclusive minutes allowance to voicemail are charged per call at the standard tariff rate.
