Can anybody do an in depth check on the Chester area? The speeds are absolutely dire and as a new payg customer it's being limited at 2mbps. Wasnt like this a few days ago.

I'm aware there is a mast down but the issue wasn't that bad until yesterday.

I've tried network reset. Manual roam. Apn settings. It's a new sim which was working fine so it's not that.

Its very poor considering other networks are offering a solid 30-40mbps.

Best to wait until the mast is fixed and any work completed.

O2 are aware of the issue and will be fixing it as fast as possible,

I'm sure the network team have already done any investigation necessary.

Would that result in them giving me a max speed of 2mbps? Nothing more nothing less, which indicates some form of traffic shaping?

Its across o2 and giffgaff so definitely a network coverage issue/control.

It's very likely that they would impose restrictions to ensure everyone could get at least some level of service.

OK thanks.

If it was an upgrade to the area would it say? Or would it be an actual issue with the mast?

The O2 coverage checker doesn't give insight when Chester might be likely to get 5g or anything.

Also a shame wifi calling/4g calling isn't available on gg or o2 payg.

Seems a waste of a £30 top up.

The status usually does differentiate between upgrades, maintenance and faults.

20 months on and the speeds are still really bad in some areas. Signal is fine, but seems oversubscribed so it crawls to a halt a lot. Only stayed on the payg because they gave £5, so I topped up £15. Big mistake, as had to endure little or no data when out. Switching asap.
