I have a pay as you go phone. I did not use it for six months and had my account shut down and my credit taken. I was sent a new sim card and number. I loaded up £10 and it automatically put me on to the £5 bundle which I do not want. I want to continue as a pay as you go customer. How do I make that happen?

@DennisD If you call O2 on 4445 they may be able to reinstate your old number, if it's not too long after six months that you were disconnected. If you were on the old Pay & Go Classic tariff they may not be able to reinstate that, as they don't offer it any longer. Worth a try asking though.
You can also reach O2 via social media who may be able to help:
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

Hi @Thedons1983 - what you describe is the way O2 PAYG "bundles" now work, not much different in that respect from having a £10/month contract, but without the credit check - no more can you keep SIM with a few quid on it 'just in case' (on O2 anyway, other networks may still do it the old way). Detail on how PAYG Bundles work here: https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-as-you-go/big-bundles
So not really thieves, just a different business model from some other networks - one that you accept when you sign up to use O2 PAYG services.

If you want to stay with the O2 network and have the Classic PAYG as you were on previously, then you can get a Sim for the Classic tariff from Tesco or Giffgaff.
