Will 4G phone work on 3G network?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

I am considering upgrading from my Lumia 800 to a Lumia 920 to get the Windows 8 software, as I need to upgrade a client website to Win 8 soon and need to get used to it. If I buy a sim-free Lumia 920 it will be a 4g phone - will it riun niormally on O2 on 3G until they upgrade to 4G next year? Is there any downside to upgrading to a 4G phone ahead of their network upgrade? And will I auotomatically get the 4G service when they introduce it or will I have to select a new tariff?

Turn 4G off in settings as it will be constantly searching for a 4G signal and will drain the battery faster than Schumaker down the back straight at Imola !!
