I'm going to America next week. What will the charges be for using Internet, sending texts or making calls? Can I limit what I spend?
Thanks

It depends what tariff you are on. You should be eligible for O2 Travel at least so you need to apply that as a bolt on Then you will be charged £4.99 per day. This will cover 120 texts 120 calls and data.

To get the bolt on If you've got a Pay Monthly sim, text O2TRAVELto 23336.
It's not available on PAYG
To limit any usage then use Wifi wherever you go. This way you can keep in touch with friends and family vis Messenger, Whatsapp and Skype. Wifi is plentiful throughout the US
O2 Travel is only chargeable on the days you use it. Be aware that sending one text will trigger the £4.99 charge.
If you don't apply O2 travel to your account then you will be charged International rates

To add to the above and before you travel to the US, give customer services a call to ensure you have NO Roaming bars applied to your account https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

@NeilBLongpalm Make sure your phone is unlocked if you do decide to purchase a 3 PAYG sim, and make sure it's a Go Roam sim, but be aware that calls and texts are only for back to the UK, not local calls. Alternatively, you could get a T-Mobile PAYG sim when you arrive in the US for local calls and data, and use WhatsApp or Messenger over WiFi to keep in contact with friends or family in the UK.
