Unable to use O2 Wifi

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been an O2 customer for two weeks now and there's one thing that's been annoying me, and that's the inability to take advantage of O2 Wifi when out and about.

Whenever I am situated within an O2 Wifi hotspot I can connect to the O2 Wifi network and it takes me to https://welcome.o2wifi.co.uk but I can browse no further and any attempt to deviate from this page results in me going back to it.

I have sent 'wifi' to 2121 several times already and I have an account setup with O2 Wifi. I can also connect to any other private or public wifi networks with absolutely no problems - the only one I have an issue with is O2's.

So, any suggestions on a possible fix? It's been sending me bonkers. Oh, and my phone is an HTC One X.

I have managed to resolve this issue now.

I deleted my O2 Wifi account then sent 'wifi' to 2121, and then re-registered and everything appears to be working okay now.

I believe my problem arose from the fact that the IMEI code on my new phone differs to that on my previous one and, having transferred my old number from Vodafone to O2, the information stored on my account differed.

Happy as I am that this I have resolved the issue, I am disappointed by the level of customer service I received by O2 in trying to fix it. I had one operator insist on me sending my phone in for a repair, despite me enthatically telling them that it was not a hardware or software issue.

Seems I was correct.

That web page appears not to exist?

You might find some info here http://www.o2wifi.co.uk/
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Webpage does exist, it's added a comma to the URL by accident.

Only one.

I'm thinking of removing the device and deleting the account and starting over again to see if I'm able to start afresh.

After 5 weeks I am still not able to connect with O2Wifi, in spite of trying just about everything I can think of. I think that the new PAYG sim that was put into my new Motog3 in Richmond O2 shop, was possibly not correct,

The manager did not even give me the sim card holder with my MBB number on it, so I could not even chase it up.

So it looks as though I have to let O2 go after many years, and make my Motog3 a Virgin mobile, (where I have my home broadband).

But how O2 Customer Service has deteriorated!

There appears to be many problems with o2 wifi registration at the moment.
Have you logged the issue with cs?
