Now that O2 and Virgin Media have merged, I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have also tried contacting Virgin Media, but no joy as yet...
I have had a Virgin email account for over 15 years, and just the other day I got a letter saying they were closing my account down as I no longer have any Virgin Media products. By this I assume they mean cable, mobile, etc. However I have also been an O2 customer for nearly the same length of time, and if they companies have merged, would this not count as having a Virgin Media product? After all, I pay for both a mobile and an iPad on O2. Or would it be possible to move my Virgin email over to O2 somehow, and direct emails sent to my old address to an O2 address? I feel if they are now the same company, then I should be able to carry on with my email account. Thanks for any help you can give me.

O2 do not have any email servers.
If Virgin won't help you further, you need to setup something like a free gmail email and start the process of changing over.

I would not hold out a great deal of hope in that situation @TheFellaLondon, but to get a decision one way or the other, you need to contact O2. Unfortunately, this is a customer to customer community so we cannot access your account or provide other direct help.
You can message O2 on social media :-
Facebook : https://o2uk.co/O2CFB
X (previously known as Twitter) : https://o2uk.co/O2CTW
Instagram : https://o2uk.co/O2CIG
A complete schedule of how to contact O2 is in :-

You will definitely lose the email account
Even though the companies have merged email accounts are seperate entities and Virginmedia and O2 still have their own products. O2 stopped using email years ago and customers who used the O2 email as sign in for third party resources had to change or open another email account.
All a bit of a pain!
It seems Virginmedia are protecting their bandwidth
