O2 WiFiCalling

Anonymous
Not applicable

Because it’s shortly to be removed, I’ve just abandoned TU2GO in favour of O2 WiFiCalling. However, WiFiCalling won’t take texts, whereas TU2GO would take texts. This is particularly disappointing as the O2 network is very poor here, and I need this facility for texts - in particular for receiving one time passwords. Can anyone help, please? Andy.

I've just found an app called Dingtone which will apparently send and receive texts. Will give it a try, but if it works then O2 and BT landline people should be worried!

Looks like you have to buy a number off them though?

I don't think you actually have to buy a number from them - I think you can use your existing one. I seems it works like TU used to.

Great if it does.
Have you downloaded it and tried it yet?

Yes, I have tried it and it seemed to work OK.

But then I tried to do another text and it says 'texting costs 6.0 credits per SMS. You have only 8.82 credits remaining. Get more credits'. It then gives me the option to purchase 500 credits for £9.99. Which I didn't do!

Also, I thought I hadn't sent the second text, but it did go to the person I'd intended it for  - and when they received it it was apparently from an 01902 number (which I think is a BT landline code for Wolverhampton, and I'm in Sussex!).

So this DingThing isn't all it seemed to be and I don't think I'll be using it.

Thanks, I was afraid of that.
