O2 Travel

Anyone else being charged the £1.99 O2 travel charge to receive calls abroad? I've scrutinized my bills and phone logs and the O2 travel charge is being triggered on days that I haven't used my phone at all except when answering a call which is supposed to be free.

I travel to Costa Rica every year and always turn off my data roaming and mobile data and just use my phone when wifi is available for Internet and WhatsApp etc, this year o2 decided to add o2 travel bolt on to my phone without asking me or telling me. I now have a bill of over £75 because of 8 separate charges of £4.99 added to my bill due to O2 travel pack, I sent 1 text which usually costs 40p and was charged £4.99! On another occasion I checked my phone data was off and accidentally turned it on and then straight off again, on and off for literally 1 or 2 seconds and guess what, £4.99 for turning data on and off, I am sick of talking to o2 representatives who try and justify this by saying 'it's the package you have on your phone' again a package I did not subscribe to, why would I, it has no benefit to me what so ever, clearly the only people benefitting is another big corporation..My contract finishes with o2 in February thankfully and I also we be leaving them as will my partner and many other people I have spoken to regarding 'o2 travel ' and other issues...

Long threads on here about triggers for the daily charge and the fact that you need to opt out rather than opt in.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
