Firewall - Port Forwarding - CCTV

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello All,

I apologise if I am posting this onto the wrong forum - if I have, would the Mods please move this to the correct forum?

I have installed a CCTV system and have forwarded all the necessary ports in order for me to view the CCTV remotely but . . . . I cannot view the cameras on my O2 mobile under the Data Mode.

I can view the CCTV over the WiFi but when I switch to Data mode using my computer's external IP address, I keep getting trying to connect but no picture.

I have made sure that the port is open by using canyouseeme.org.

Do I need to create an exception or rule in the firewall settings?

I have been trying to access the cameras remotely for a week now and am stumped!

Any help or advice will be truly appreciated.

Good morning All,

Still frustrated over this issue of no access to CCTV over 3g.

I have come across this old thread whereby O2 was blocking access via APN . . . this has confused me as Adam has access over 3g but I can't?

Hello Adam,

I never noticed the IE . . . sorry.

Thank you.

I have a QVIS DVR and cameras and I am using the MEYE app.

When I log onto the app externally through the data mode, I get buffering then 'server in available'.

Just to confirm that the app is using the same Router external ip address and port when connecting over wifi and cell data?

If so then the issue is port blocking / content type blocking on the cell data network and not your router firewall

Hello Adam,

The app is using the external IP address obtained from Google's what is my IP address and the port number is the mobile port as given on the DVR settings.

When I use a port forwarding checking program like canyouseeme. Org I am getting"success" the port is open and I can see it.

Would I be able to view the CCTV via external WiFi hotspots if the port was not open? If I need to use the same settings for external WiFi and my data mode, why can I see via one and not the other? That is the bit that has stumped me

As I said above if it works remotly via wifi and it is the same port and external ip then on mobile it must be an o2 port block / content type block as I asked toby to enquire.

Is there a setting in the dvr to change the default port? if so try the port I use 18004 (default for swann devices) and see if that works

Hello Adam,

Yes, I can change the default port.

I will do as you suggest and try that.

Can you setup the dvr and router to use upnp? That way all ports that are required are all setup automatically my swann dvr has 3 ports open and I noted on a website your type also needed 3 open

Hello Adam,

I hope you have had a good weekend?

I could not rest with this and kept trying to fix it.

I was out in Sunny Surrey today and opened up the app and Hey Presto, I could see the cameras!

Now . . . . back in Lower Essex where I am, I keep getting trying to connect and stopped!!

I can view the cameras when I am on WiFi but not on my mobile data in some places.

This has frustrated me no end only to find I can view via the mobile data but not always when I want to . . . .
