Connecting to O2 wifi hotspot

When I have been near an O2 wifi hotspot it has asked me for my tel. number to send a confirmation text. However the number is always preceded by the wrong country code [+1] so I never get the confirmation SMS text.

I've never seen that so I don't know.
I guess you cannot edit the prefix?
